Item Menu
Choosing Item:Assign to Selected Installation assigns all currently selected script items to the selected installation.
If a script item is located inside a folder, all enclosing folders are automatically assigned to the installation also. If an item is already assigned to an installation, this command is ignored for that item.
Since installations are effectively groupings of script items, the Item:Assign to Selected Installation option is the way to indicate which script items are part of an installation. Any script items assigned to an installation are "installed" when the user chooses that installation option in your installer application. Installations can have any number of script items assigned to them - from a single item to all items in the script. Also script items can belong to any number of installations.
Shortcut: Command-Equal (=)
Choosing Item:Remove from Selected Installation removes the currently selected items from the selected installation. If you remove a folder item from an installation without removing its contents from the same installation, you will receive an error when you try to build an installer.
Shortcut: Command-Hyphen (≠)
Choosing Item:Assign to All Installations assigns all currently selected script items to all installations in the script.
If an item is located inside a folder, all enclosing folders are automatically assigned to all installations also. If an item is already assigned to all installations, this command is ignored for that item.
Choosing Item:Remove from All Installations removes the currently selected items from all installations. If you remove a folder item from all installations without removing its contents, you will receive an error when you try to build an installer. An error is also reported during building if any items are left unassigned.
Choosing Item:Make into One Installation creates a new installation and assigns all selected script items to this installation. The installation is given the name of the first selected item. This option allows an installation to be easily created for a folder of script items.
If a folder is the only item selected when this option is chosen, the folder's contents are not automatically assigned to the installation that is created. You must first choose Edit:Select Folder to select the folder contents.
Choosing Item:Make into Multiple Installations creates individual installations for each selected item in the script. The names of the items are used for the names of the installations. This option allows you to easily create installations representing individual files in the script.
Using this option with folders selected does not automatically assign a folder's contents to the installation created from the folder.
Choosing Item:Collapse Folder hides the contents of any selected folders. The triangle to the left of those folders changes from the open position to the closed position.
When working with scripts with a large number of items, it is best to keep folders closed as much as possible. The speed of many Builder operations is related to the number of items visible in a script.
You can click directly on a folder's triangle to collapse or expand it. If you do this with the Option key down, all enclosed items are collapsed or expand.
Shortcut: Command-comma (,)
Choosing Item:Expand Folder allows you to see the contents of any selected folders that are closed. The triangle to the left of those folders changes from the closed position to the open position.
Shortcut: Command-/
Choosing Item:Show Item in Finder reveals the selected item in the Finder, showing you where it is located on your hard disk. If multiple items are selected, only the first selected item is used. This item must be a file or folder from your hard disk for this option to work.
Choosing any of the following options from the Apply to Selected submenu applies the appropriate action to all items selected in the script.
-
Choosing Item:Apply to Selected:Set Files Internal changes the File Source setting for all selected files and patches to "Inside Archive". This is useful for resetting items that have been previously set by the Set Files External option.
-
Choosing Item:Apply to Selected:Set Files External changes the File Source setting for all selected files and patches to "Outside Archive". It also sets the Source Path for these items to a default value based on its location on your hard disk. This option is useful for creating CD-ROM installers where you want items to be installed from outside the installer archive.
